Apache Iceberg
Iceberg tables in your REST catalog. Catalog and storage authentication must be supported by the setup form.
Ingest lands typed, deduplicated tables in Apache Iceberg from any API it connects, including Abilene TX 311, Albany NY 311, Ann Arbor MI 311 and Anne Arundel County MD 311. You own the Apache Iceberg account and the credentials; Ingest keeps no copy of the data.
Every destination receives the same layout; see the tables Ingest creates.
Setup
Before you start
Contact Ingest to confirm catalog authentication first. Catalog tokens and GCS/Azure credentials cannot be entered here yet. S3 permissions do not authorize the REST catalog. Do not remove catalog authentication or make it public to work around missing fields.
1. Get catalog details
- Ask your administrator for the REST URL and warehouse identifier. Paste them into Iceberg REST catalog URI and Catalog warehouse at the bottom. Confirm namespace/table creation, metadata updates, and test cleanup permissions. The warehouse identifier may differ from your storage path.
- Using Glue? Choose Amazon Athena.
2. Grant storage access
- Enter the storage path from your administrator in Base URI at the bottom. For
s3://your-bucket/warehouse, use your existing bucket's name and the folder prefix agreed with your administrator. - For S3, follow Amazon S3 steps 1–3. Paste the role ARN into IAM role Ingest assumes (IngestAccess-…, S3 only) at the bottom.
- For GCS or Azure, confirm credential setup with Ingest first.
3. Test the connection
- Click Test & configure at the bottom. Writes and reads temporary data, checks pipeline state, then attempts cleanup. Review any cleanup warning. If the test fails, fix the reported problem and choose Test again.
Staging
The worker writes Parquet data files to your storage and commits table metadata to your catalog. No separate staging bucket is required.
Writes
Iceberg tables support append, replace, and merge. Plain-file destinations do not support merge. The catalog connection and storage access described above must both be configured before using this destination.
Conformance
Every adapter passes the same suite before it ships: create a table with every canonical type, append
100k rows, atomic replace, merge (latest dedup_sort wins; child tables delete-then-insert by root
id), schema evolution, NULL-key rejection, package replay without duplicates, state and schema
round-trip, row-count read-back, identifier edge cases, double-underscored table names (__quarantine, child tables), and rollback on a
mid-load failure.
Questions
- Can Ingest load data into Apache Iceberg?
- Yes. Apache Iceberg is live on Ingest's hosted service: the adapter passes all 15 conformance cases against the real service, and the setup steps are on this page.
- Does Ingest merge into Apache Iceberg, or only append?
- Apache Iceberg merges on the resource's primary key, so re-running a sync updates existing rows rather than duplicating them. Append and full replace are available per resource.
- What does Ingest need to connect to Apache Iceberg?
- Base URI, Iceberg REST catalog URI and Catalog warehouse. Secrets are entered in a form, never in a chat, and held in a secret store under your own path: only the key names ever reach Ingest's database.
- Which sources can Ingest load into Apache Iceberg?
